Director’s Message
In developing countries, like Pakistan, where a significant chunk of the productive activities is derived directly or indirectly from agricultural and rural based activities, rural development has always been on the top agenda of the successive governments. To pursue the goal of sustainable development of the agriculture and allied sectors, PMAS-Arid Agriculture University, Rawalpindi and Korean International Cooperation Agency (KOICA) has joined hands to develop this state of the art, capacity building center which is equipped with all modern facilities and technology to conduct capacity building and training programs along with workshops, seminars, technical sessions and discussion forums etc.
The major purpose of the Center is to help in building the capacity of rural community, academic &research staff, professionals of allied disciplines and the graduating students who can play decisive role in achieving the objectives of the Vision-2025 and transformation of the society in Pakistan. The Center will also identify the gaps in existing mechanism of by collaborating with key members of the university community and finds solutions to fill the gaps. By doing so, we are working together to build a strong relationship among community, university and R&D organizationsto strive for the common objective of welfare and sustainability.
In a very short time after its establishment in December 2016, by the Grace of God, the center has been engaged in number of activities including international training programs, multi-stake holder seminars, international training sessions and workshops. The Center has also the pride of hosting two chairs, one PirMehr Ali Shah Chair and the second is SaemuelUndong Chair. These two chairs will prove as the mark of excellence for achieving the national harmony and sustainable development.
We are looking forward for your suggestions, plans and proposals to enhance the effectiveness of the center.
Objectives
To improve livelihood of farmers and rural communities through imparting trainings & skills in production, management and value addition of agriculture and livestock products.
Scope of Activities
Main Activity
- Capacity Building of Farmers through Transfer of Advanced Technology in Agriculture and Livestock production, management and their value additions.
Parallel Activities
- In-service Training Program (in Agriculture and Livestock) for capacity building of different tiers of professionals working in public and private sector organizations.
- Occupational Certificate Courses in Agriculture and Livestock production and value addition.
- Seminars / workshops / panel discussion and forums for farmers, graduating students, researchers, extension agents, social workers and development professionals for awareness, capacity building and policy guidelines.
